Mete Group of Companies started its operations in 1960.The founder of the group, Ali Rıza Mete, stepped into commercial life in the same year by establishing Akar Transport, which carried out crude oil transportation by road for Unilever. In the following period, he purchased the Tayyar ship, where he had worked previously, and started serving Unilever by sea in crude oil transportation as well. The strong cooperation established with Unilever during this period has continued to strengthen for over 55 years.

Development of Logistics and Distribution Network

The growth of the Group in logistics and distribution activities accelerated with the establishment of KARSAN company in 1981. KARSAN started to provide distribution and logistics services to retailers and wholesalers in Istanbul with 70 vehicles added to its fleet. Following the success achieved in transportation and distribution services, it realized one of Turkey's modern warehouse constructions in Gebze in 1989.

In 1991, it undertook the distribution of Algida, another Unilever brand, primarily to provinces throughout Turkey and started urban distribution within Istanbul. In the following years, great progress was made with the addition of Black Sea region, Antalya, Marmaris and Izmir to the distribution network.

Construction and Contracting Projects

Since its first day of establishment, our Group has signed many construction projects and various social activities in addition to logistics activities. The industrial construction portfolio started with Rize Lipton Tea Factory; continued with Trakya A.Ş. Crude Oil Factory and Algida Ice Cream Factory.

Among the completed important contracting works are Mete Plaza in Istanbul Bostancı, Karsan Plaza in Sarıgazi, various Algida Warehouse buildings (including buildings in Sarıgazi and Çorlu). In the last five years, comprehensive projects such as Algida Ice Cream Factory in Konya, Torku Meat Integrated Facilities and Unilever Detergent Factory have been successfully implemented.

Social Responsibility and Community Contribution

One of the fundamental principles that Mete Group of Companies has never given up during its rapid growth process is to serve the country in a social sense. In this context, various construction and restoration projects have been carried out:

• Sailing Club in Izmir Urla was built, Urla Primary School construction was completed, Urla Fisherman's Shelter was opened for service and restoration of the Olive Oil Workshop in Urla Klazomenai Ancient City was completed.
• Contributions in the field of health are quite comprehensive: The old building of Kızılay Medical Center in Istanbul Bakırköy was completely demolished and rebuilt. In addition, intensive care units and various technical devices were supplied for Bakırköy State Hospital, İncirli Kidney Foundation, Bayrampaşa Eye Hospital, Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty and Bezmialem Vakıf Gureba Hospital, and various restoration works were completed.
